Windows 10 and Microsoft Office Suite 2016

I use the Windows Operating system and the Microsoft Office Suite since their beginnings. But in the last years I was not anymore pleased with the Microsoft products, because they jumped too much around and it looked like, that they don’t have a clear concept anymore.

Therefore I used more and more other software programs and a lot of them are open source programs, which are also excellent.

A long time I therefore hesitated,  to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, because I had strong doubts, if  Microsoft had really improved.

But then I bought books about Windows 10 and the Microsoft Office Suite 2016 and that changed my mind, because many new, very useful features are integrated now.

Windows 10:

• Microsoft has really developed a new concept, how to integrate the Windows 10 operating system, so that it can be used together with the Office Suite, for one user  on up to 5 devices:
  • desktop
  • laptop
  • tablet computer
  • mobile phone
• Windows 10 has now many safety features, so that it is hopefully much safer against viruses and malware
• an online storage of 1 Terabyte  = 1000 Gigabyte  is included in the Office Suite and all files in it can be synchronized with the files on all devices, on which Windows 10 is installed.

Office Suite 2016

There are available several packages and one can buy them or one uses an abonment.

I decided to us an abo  for the Miscosoft Office Suite 365 Pro  Plus, because:

• The database ACCESS is included in it, together with:
  • Word
  • Publisher
  • Outlook
  • Excel
  • Power Point
  • One Note
  • Sway
  • ACCESS
• with an abo, I have not to pay attention to updates; all is done automatically by Microsoft.

Of course, it will take some time, until I will be familiar with all the new features and also to have developed an efficient workflow, to use all of those programs.

But  learning will not take too long time, because about 80% of the menus is common in each of these programs.

A very strong motivation for me were also the new features of Word and Excel:

• in Word it is possible, to open 2 independent parallel pages, which is very good for translations, but also, if one needs to work parallel with different word documents.
• in Word is is also possible to modify pdf-documents. That is very nice, because  in business many documents are exchanged as pdf-files.
• Excel has got much more powerful and one can handle now huge data sheets.

To learn all that new stuff, I have bought all the eBooks from   Que. The offer for Windows 10, Word and Excel very good books and I expect, that they will publish also eBooks for the other programs in the Office 2016 suite in due time.

The eBooks I can read with the Kindle eBook readers and also with an Amazon apps on the desktop computer, which is also very convenient, because then I can test all, what is described in the eBooks.

Two other very important reasons to use eBooks are:

• use of hyperlinks makes it very easy to navigate inside the eBooks, but also to jump to websites.
• update service for the eBooks is included in the purchase price; but one has to activate it on the website of Que.

  Windows 10 und  Microsoft Office Suite 2016

Ich verwende das Windows Computer-Betriebssystem und die Microsoft Office Suite seit ihren Anfängen.

Aber in den letzten Jahren war ich mit den Produkten von Microsoft nicht mehr so recht zufrieden,  weil Microsoft zuviel hin und her sprang und es aussah, dass sie kein klares Konzept mehr hatten.

Deshalb habe ich mehr und mehr mit anderen Softwareprogrammen gearbeitet, viele davon Open-Source-Programme, die auch exzellent sind.

Lange Zeit habe ich gezögert, von Windows 7 auf Windows 10 aufzurüsten, weil ich starke Zweifel hatte, dass Microsoft wirklich etwas verbessert hat.

Aber dann habe ich mir Bücher über Windows 10 und die Microsoft Office Suite 2016 gekauft und das hat meine Einstellung geändert, weil jetzt viele neue und nützliche  Funktionen integriert sind.

Windows 10:

• Microsoft hat wirklich ein neues Konzept entwickelt, wie das Windows 10 Betriebssystem integriert werden kann, so dass es zusammen mit der Office Suite von einem Benutzer auf bis zu 5 verschiedenen Geräten genutzt werden kann:
  • desktop
  • laptop
  • tablet computer
  • mobile phone
• Windows 10 hat jetzt viele Sicherheitsfunktionen, so dass es hoffentlich viel sicherer gegen Viren und Schädlings-Software ist
• Ein Online-Speicher von 1 Terabyte = 1000 Gigabyte ist in der Office Suite integriert und alle files  können mit den files auf allen Geräten synchronisiert werden, auf denen Windows 10 installiert ist.

Office Suite 2016

Es werden verschiedene Pakete angeboten und man kann sie kaufen oder ein Abonnement abschließen.

Ich habe mich  für ein Abonnement der Microsoft Office Suite 365 Pro Plus entschlossen, weil:

• Das Datenbankprogramm  ACCESS ist mit eingeschlossen, zusammen mit:
  • Word
  • Publisher
  • Outlook
  • Excel
  • Power Point
  • One Note
  • Sway
  • ACCESS
• mit einem Abonnement brauche ich mich nicht mehr um die updates zu kümmern; das wird automatisch von Microsoft durchgeführt.

Natürlich werde ich einige Zeit brauchen, bis ich mit all den neuen Funktionen vertraut bin und einen entspannten Arbeitsfluss entwickelt habe, alle Programme zu nutzen.

Aber das Lernen wird nicht allzu lange dauern, weil etwa 80%  aller Menüs dieser Programme gleich sind.

Eine sehr starke Motivation für mich waren auch die neuen Funktionen in Word und Excel:

• in Word ist es jetzt möglich, 2 unabhängige Fenster  parallel zu öffnen,  was sehr gut für Übersetzungen ist, aber auch, wenn man mit verschiedenen Word-Dokumenten parallel arbeitet.
• in Word ist es jetzt auch möglich, pdf-Dokumente zu ändern. Das ist sehr nützlich, weil im Geschäftsleben viele Dokumente als pdf-files ausgetauscht werden.
• Excel ist jetzt viel mächtiger geworden und man kann riesige Datenmengen damit bearbeiten.

Damit ich all diese neuen Funktionen lernen kann, habe ich mir die eBooks von Que gekauft. Que bietet für Windows 10, Word und Excel sehr gute eBooks an und ich erwarte, dass sie in Zukunft auch eBooks für die anderen Programme in  Office 2016 anbieten werden.

Die eBooks kann ich mit den Kindle eBook Lesegeräten lesen, aber auch mit der Amazon apps auf dem Desktopcomputer, was sehr bequem ist, weil ich dann direkt all das testen kann, was in den eBooks beschrieben ist.

Zwei andere wichtige Gründe, eBooks zu wählen sind:

•  die Verwendung von Hyperlinks macht es sehr einfach, innerhalb des eBooks zu navigieren, aber auch Webseiten zu öffnen.
•  der update-Service ist in dem Kaufpreis eingeschlossen; aber man muss sich dazu auf der Webseite von Que anmelden.
